Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking 20 talented teen golfers from modest means who show both skill and determination. Ideal candidates are committed to working hard, growing academically, and pursuing their dreams on and off the course.
What we offer
Financial Support
Thru Golf covers the major costs of pursuing a competitive junior golf path - including lessons, tournament entry fees, travel, lodging, meals, and properly fitted equipment. By removing these financial barriers, we make it possible for talented teens to focus on their growth and future.
Lasting Community
Participants join a supportive network of mentors, volunteers, and peers who share their journey. This community offers encouragement, connections, and guidance that extend beyond the program and into college and life.
Personalized Experiences
Each teen receives an individualized development plan, including lessons, practice facilities, and exposure to elite tournaments. We also create opportunities for families to connect with the program - through evaluation sessions, progress check-ins, and events that celebrate each student’s growth.
We Are a Merit-Based Program
Thru Golf is built on the belief that talent and determination should matter more than family resources. Our goal is to create a true “level playing field” by considering each applicant’s background, opportunities, and potential - rather than focusing solely on financial or athletic starting points.
We look at the whole student: their golf ability, work ethic, academic commitment, and character. There are no minimum scores or rankings required. Instead, we value teens who make the most of what they have, who challenge themselves, and who continue to grow despite obstacles.

World-Class Coaching
High-quality instruction is the foundation of every great player. Thru Golf provides customized lesson plans and access to skilled teachers using advanced tools like launch monitors, force plates, and swing analysis. We secure in-kind support from coaches and facilities and fill the gaps with commercial resources to ensure every participant gets the coaching they need.
Custom Equipment
The right clubs improve distance, accuracy, and confidence—and 87% of golfers with custom-fit clubs lower their handicap by at least 10%. Thru Golf partners with leading manufacturers to provide fitted gear and ensures players are re-fit as they grow and their game evolves.
Practice & Play Opportunities
Each golfer’s plan includes access to convenient practice facilities - indoors when needed for weather - and regular opportunities to train, compete, and take lessons. Thru Golf partners with local courses, including 28 public/municipal and 38 private clubs within 20 miles of Washington, D.C., to ensure every participant can practice and play close to home.
Tournament Play
Competing with skilled players is essential for growth. Thru Golf supports entry fees, travel, and lodging so participants can play a full schedule of tournaments, gain experience, and be seen by college scouts.
